Hi Ana-Maria! What inspired your designs?
“I wanted to create pieces that feel versatile and wearable all year round, while still keeping that signature CrochetHighway colorwork style that so many crocheters know and love!”
Curious about Ana-Maria’s style? She’s known for her bold designs and intricate stitchwork. And she’s especially in love with interlocking crochet — just look at the stunning Florentine Cardigan in the top left corner.
How tricky are the projects?
“The projects have varying degrees of difficulty but they're all classified as intermediate. If you've ever followed one of my patterns before, you know they usually come with lots of step-by-step photo tutorials and very detailed instructions!”
In other words, each Advent Sunday brings not only a surprise project, but also a chance to learn and grow in your crochet journey.
What stitches can we expect?
“There’s a little bit of everything, from lace to different types of colorwork, including reversible interlocking crochet! I think that last one will be especially exciting and satisfying for many crocheters to try.”
Any little sneak peeks of a design you’re excited about?
“Let’s just say… they come in pairs, and the stitch pattern and color combo remind me of delicious nougat chocolate bars!”

How did you pick the yarns and colors?
“If you know me, you know I love bold, high-contrast color pairings, and the patterns in the crochet calendar are no exception. I also wanted to play with different yarn qualities and weights to bring variety into the mix, while still staying true to my style.”
What makes the Advent experience special?
“It’s all about the joy of creating something special during the holidays, and the magic of sharing handmade pieces with loved ones.”
