The technique I used is called Inset mosaic crochet. It’s called like this because you’ll fill the ch-sps in by “in-setting” longer stitches (dcs) in the next RS row in a contrasting colour, leaving the ch-sps unworked behind. As said it’s worked using 2 rows of each colour. You’ll be turning your work at the end of each row and will carry the unused colour up the side of your work.
